YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The next meeting between Armenian President Robert Kocharian and Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev is likely to take place in January–Kocharian said at his meeting with journalists December 21. "The process is going on–and I cannot imagine the settlement of the problem without stability in the country," the president said.
As to the current situation in the Nagorno Karabakh Republic–the president said that the current crisis is the result of long-standing tension. At least two years have passed since the beginning of problems between the country’s military and civil leaders–he said. Such threat also existed when Kocharian was president of Karabakh–but his authority prevented similar developmen’s. The Armenian president supported the solution to the problem and the determination displayed by the Karabakh president.
