GENEVA (Itar-Tass)– Presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia–Haydar Aliyev and Robert Kocharian–are scheduled to meet in Geneva on Friday to discuss the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement–a spokesperson for the Swiss foreign ministry told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
According to the spokesperson–the two presidents were expected to arrive in Geneva late on Thursday to stay until Saturday.
The Azeri and Armenian missions to the UN European office confirmed that the meeting between the two presidents will take place on Friday–although they provided no details about the venue for and the time of the would-be meeting. No information is available about whether Aliyev and Kocharian plan to pass a joint statement or communiqu–or whether they will give a news conference.
According to a Swiss foreign ministry spokesperson–Switzerland is responsible only for the organizational aspect of the meeting–although she hopes the meeting would promote a peace–political solution to the Karabakh conflict.
