SAN PAULO (Armenpress)–On the second day of his official visit to Uruguay–Armenian President Robert Kocharian met with President Jorge Battle Sunday.
The negotiations between government delegations of Armenia and Uruguay were held parallel to the private conversation of Kocharian and Battle. The two sides discussed possible directions of the development of bilateral relations and referred to cooperation in international structures.
In a joint communiqu–issued upon the conclusion of Kocharian’s visit–Battle assured of Uruguay’s readiness to bring its contribution to Armenia’s accession to the World Trade Organization. In turn–President Kocharian expressed gratitude to the government of Uruguay for being the first country in the world to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide.
Agreemen’s on encouragement and protection or reciprocal investmen’s–cooperation in industry and health sectors were also signed.
The same day Kocharian also met with senior officials of the Supreme Court–parliament and Montevideo city council.
On finishing the official visit to Uruguay–Kocharian left for San Paolo City in Brazil. He is scheduled to meet with the President of the Federal Republic of Brazil Fernando Enrike Cardoza.
