PARIS (Armenpress)–Upon arrival in Paris on Sunday–Prime Minister Robert Kocharian began his meeting schedule with a number of French officials.
Accompanying Kocharian on this official trip are Minister of Tourism and Trade Garnik Nangoulian–Minister of Economy and Finance Armen Darbinian–deputy foreign minister Vartan Oskanian–advisor to the prime minister Khosrov Harutiunian and several other officials.
Upon arrival in the French capital–the delegation was taken to the Palais du Congres–where they participated in a benefit concert given by Charles Aznavour–who had a short post-concert meeting with Kocharian.
The following day–Kocharian met with French businessmen–and prominent figure Michel Fraiche. Kocharian also met Ivber Flano–following which he attended an event at the Armenian community church in Paris.
In his meeting with Fraiche–the French businessman informed the minister that France is interested in strengthening economic and business ties between the two countries.
However–the French representative told Kocharian that such developmen’s would be conditioned by Armenia’s continuous strengthening of the political and economic climate. He emphasized that internal social reforms would also have to continue.
Kocharian in his turn presented the various aspects of Armenia’s business climate–adding that he believed that the role of the government had to be determined in business transactions–noting that new legislation needed to be introduced to ensure a stable business forum.
On the same day–Kocharian met with French Economic Minister Dominique Stroska.
