YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–"Advances in science are closely related with the general situation [in Armenia] and the only way to settle problems in this field is to establish a social-economic program of the republic’s development," Prime Minister of Armenia Robert Kocharian said at a meeting with members of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences on Tuesday.
Kocharian said that the program would clearly determine the priorities for economic development. He reported that the government had already implemented a program addressing new approaches to the development of the economy and improving the tax policy.
He said that the successful training of young scientists is the guarantee of success for this field. He stressed that market relations applied in the economic field are inadmissible in the education field.
Kocharian also stressed the necessity of strict licensing of private colleges.
