YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–President Robert Kocharian met Tuesday with visiting the graduating classes from the San Fernando Valley’s Holy Martyrs Ferrahian Armenian school and the AGBU Marie Manougian-Demirjian school. The students and their teachers are visiting Armenia on an educational trip.
The teachers stressed that the schools heeded the president’s call–urging all to visit Armenia–and added that they were planning similar trips in the future.
The presidential press service reported that in his commen’s–Kocharian praised the students and the teachers and said that national unity was the backbone of resolving all national issues.
He added that such visits are extremely special and play a crucial role in advancing the Armenian language–culture and traditions for the students.
Kocharian especially praised the teachers for their commitment in educating Armenian youth in the Diaspora. He also stressed the importance of ties between the youth from Armenia and the Diaspora as a bridge for fine-tuning homeland-Diaspora relations.
