YEREVAN (Yerkir)–At the request of Armenian factory owners–President Robert Kocharian met with the representatives of Iran based manufacturing companies on July 30.
The visit from the Iranian delegation led by Iranian Import Company President Askar Fakrieh Kashani–attested to the fact–according to Kocharian–that firm economic ties between the two neighboring countries have already been established.
Kashani noted that trade can only flourish under secure conditions–and that the Iranian side believes that the Republic of Armenia provides their businesses with the ideal partners for trade and mutual industrial development.
The parties analyzed detailed proposals dealing with monetary considerations and mining projects. The Iranian side announced that they are completely prepared to embark upon such economic projects.
In response to the Iranian side’s willingness to develop trade–Kocharian stated that while "lacking the necessary natural resources–our country is ready to create the conditions necessary to attract importers."
Present at the meeting were Armenian-Iranian Conference co-chairman Ardashes Toumanian and Iran’s Ambassador to Armenia Mohammed Farhad Kolayni.
