YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Armenia Li Jei Chun (residence in Moscow) presented his credentials to Armenian President Robert Kocharian today.
Re-affirming his country’s willingness to develop friendly relations with Armenia–the Korean diplomat assured the Armenian president of his intention to make every effort to develop the bilateral relations.
In his turn–the Armenian president confirmed that the Armenian-Korean relations have been developing dynamically lately–and the active contacts inspire hopes that the bilateral cooperation will become more efficient. He stressed that Armenia is interested in the further development of the versatile cooperation in Korea. According to the Armenian president–Korea’s achievemen’s in economic recovery and modernization during the post-war period and in solving social problems are impressive.
President Kocharian also pointed out that Armenia is closely following the latest processes in Korea. He hailed and emphasized the importance of the official negotiations between North Korea and South Korea. These negotiations are the first to be conducted during the whole period of political split on the Korean peninsula.
The sides also addressed the prospects for development of the Armenian-Korean relations. The Armenian president stressed the importance of developing the bilateral trade and economic relations–emphasizing the importance of Korean investmen’s in Armenia’s economy. He stressed that Armenia is pursuing an open-doors policy and encourages investmen’s and business development. The sides also pointed out the importance of creating legislation which would promote the development of mutually advantageous cooperation.
