To the Editor,
Garen Yegparian’s "The Magnitude of Our Losses" (Published: Friday December 12, 2008) was Outstanding! It struck a very deep chord that was also felt by all of those I shared the article with, including my U.S. born children (16,13). It’s a beautifully yet simply written article, straight to the point with a definite, very powerful message. It’s about time we got a wake up call and Yegparian just did that with honesty, sensitivity and depth. For that, I would like to thank both him and Asbarez.
I remember my late grandmother telling us stories about her childhood in the vineyards of Adana where she grew up. I later realized that every generation in our family was born, bred and raised in a totally different country. Yegparian’s article is a terrible "antratarts" of what we’ve been denied and most importantly what we should be doing about it; Get active! Pure and simple.
Kudos to Garen and Asbarez for sending that strong and clear message. We need more writers and articles of this magnitude. As for me, I am impatiently waiting for my next issue of Asbarez.
Thank you for taking the time to read this comment.
