YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Nairi Hunanian–the primary defendant in the October 27 case–is being kept at a pre-trial detention prison where his health condition is normal–Hunanian’s lawyer–Artashes Pahlavuni–said talking to Noyan Tapan.
Pahlavuni denied press reports alleging that Hunanian was tortured and as a result has sustained a limp.
Hunanian has simply requested for a pair of slippers because his shoes pinched his feet–the lawyer explained. Pahlavuni emphasized that his client would certainly have reported any torture.
"He told me nothing of the kind–nor did I see anything to suggest torture," said Pahlavuni.
In regards to Hunanian’s testimony against former chief of the president’s staff Alexan Haroutiunian–Pahlavuni said–"everybody–including myself–told him that he must tell the truth and not give any false testimony. But who knows–the human heart is a mystery–so the investigation will show whether that testimony was true or not."
Saying that he participated in the last investigation action on December 17–Pahlavuni stressed that the investigation actions were still continuing in their routine course.
He said the investigators were working on 2 or 3 theories.
The preliminary investigation may take another 6 to 7 months as "the case is a difficult one and–after all–investigators must find evidence in regards to each culprit’s actions," said Pahlavuni.
