LA CRESCENTA–Officers and members of the Lebanese American Foundation Tuesday visited the Prelacy where they were greeted by Western Prelate Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelacy Executive Council Chair Dr. Garo Agopian, and council members. The delegation was headed by Foundation Chairman Dr. Hanna Shammas and President Kanan Hamzeh.
Also prticipating in the meeting were Acting Consul General of Lebanon Fadi Hajali and Catholicosate Central Executive Council member Khajag Dikijian. Prelacy delegate Ghazaros Ghazarossian and community activist Dalida Keuroghlian, both of whom are board members of the Foundation, were among the delegation, as was the Honorable Judge James Kaddo, who is a close friend of the Armenian community.
The visit began with welcoming remarks by the Prelate who spoke highly of the collaboration between the two communities. Remarks were also made by Dr. Garo Agopian, Acting Consul General Fadi Hajali, Dr. Hanna Shammas, Judge James Kaddo, and members of the delegation. Hajali expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and reception, as well as for the constant support of the Prelacy towards Lebanon. Judge Kaddo congratulated the Prelate on the new headquarters and commended him for all his efforts.
Following the welcoming remarks the Prelate and council members familiarized the delegation with the structure of the Prelacy and the work that is carried out. The members spoke of the endeavors and mission of the Foundation, which was established nearly eight years ago to bring together Lebanese-Americans and to offer their support to Lebanon in any means possible. The members spoke highly of the Armenian community in Lebanon, stressing that they are an important segment of the population and greatly contribute to the development of the country. They expressed optimism that Lebanese-Armenia’s in Southern California will support the Foundation’s endeavors with the same enthusiasm. The Prelate and council members in turn emphasized that Lebanese-Armenia’s have a strong connection with Lebanon, which has become like a second homeland.
At the conclusion of the meeting the Prelate presented the Chairman and President with mementos and presented all the members of the delegation with a booklet on the history of the Catholicosate. The evening concluded with a reception and with a tour of the building.
