BEIRUT–A host of political parties and other political powers met under the roof of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation’s Sardarabad Hall Tuesday–to discuss issues and policies of importance to the future of Lebanon’s political climate. Presided over by the Armenian Revolutionary Federation’s Lebanese Central Committee–Hagop Pakratouni welcomed the more than 20 parties and organizations to the meeting–stating that all groups present were among the oldest and most-respected political organizations in Lebanon.
Pakratouni stated that the ARF–as a member of the close-knit political union of organizations in Lebanon–knew of the dangers in the Middle East–and said it was the duty of all to ensure peace would prevail–and provide a good life for its citizens.
The parties particularly addressed Azeri Foreign Minister Hassan Hassanov’s recent visit to Lebanon–expressing displeasure at his remarks concerning Armenia’s living there.
The assembly of the various parties also issued a joint declaration condemning Hassanov’s remarks.
In the declaration the political parties denounced Hassanov’s attempts to undermine the decades-long friendship forged by the Lebanese-Armenian with the Lebanese public–maintaining that Hassanov’s statemen’s were unjust and dubious.
