BEIRUT (Aztag)–In an announcement issued Wednesday–the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Central Committee of Lebanon condemned the recent arrest of Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Ocalan.
"The ARF Central Committee of Lebanon severely condemns the arrest and hand-over of Kurdistan Workers Party leader Abdullah Ocalan to the Turkish authorities–and on this occasion–emphasized that the arrest of Kurdistan Workers Party leader Abdullah Ocalan will neither put an end to the Kurdish revolution–nor will it deter the legal demand for an independent Kurdish state," the announcement said.
"Turkey–which deems itself secular and democratic–is nothing but a state which for centuries has refused to respect peoples rights and has persecuted Kurds–Armenia’s and Greek Cypriots–depriving them from the fundamental right to enjoy a life of dignity," the announcement continued.
"The ARF Central Committee of Lebanon find it a disgrace that no country in the world dared to rise above its geopolitical and economic interests and did not provide political amnesty to Ocalan–in the name of serving humanity and the just cause of people," the announcement continued–expressing its surprise at the international community–which presents itself as the defender of human rights and freedoms–brought its cooperation and input in Ocalan’s arrest.
