YEREVAN (Armenpress)–"As a result of the Armenian Genocide–Armenia’s in the Ottoman Empire and later in the first Armenian Republic in 1914-1919 suffered material losses worth 19.131 billion French fran’s"–said Lavrenty Barseghian–the head of the Museum/Institute of the Armenian Genocide.
The Museum published a booklet entitled "Armenia’s’ Losses As a Result of The Genocide," which presents very accurate information about the losses of the Armenia’s. The booklet presents data about the material losses–as well as the exact number of Armenia’s of all the Armenian provinces in Turkey before and after the Genocide. For instance–in 1914 the number of Armenia’s in Van was 197,000–while in 1922 this number was reduced to 500.
Still in 1919 the Armenian National Delegation and the Delegation of the Republic of Armenia formed the approximate balance of the material losses of Armenia’s and presented it to the Paris Peace Conference.
Barseghian said that the data takes into account the losses of each Armenian family. According to the approximate calculations–material losses in Western Armenia were 14,598,460,000 fran’s–while the losses in the Republic of Armenia and Armenian settlemen’s in the Caucasus were 4,532,472,000 fran’s.
