BAKU (Armenpress)—International mediators working for a resolution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict arrived in Baku on Thursday and met with Azeri Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.

Mammadyarov met with the Russian, French, and American co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group to prepare the groundwork for an upcoming summit between the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Moscow.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, the Azeri Foreign Minister described the Moscow meeting as an opportunity for the sides to determine whether progress is possible the Karabakh conflict negotiation process.

“The determination of the Nagorno Karabakh’s status is a very important and serious issue,” he said, asserting that Azerbaijan should have the right to determine the status of the independent republic, which declared its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.
