GLENDALE–Marcus Cable–the cable provider in Glendale–Burbank–Montrose–La Canada Flintridge–and La Crescenta–premiered "The Armenian Channel" on March 1. This new channel–on Marcus Cable’s Channel 55–is dedicated exclusively to the Armenian-speaking population.
"In response to overwhelming demand from our service area’s Armenian community–Marcus Cable is proud to present an entire channel dedicated to Armenian culture and heritage," said John Monsen–Marcus Cable’s Southern California District Manager.
Burbank-based TVN Entertainment Corporation is programming "The Armenian Channel" for Marcus Cable. TVN is also delivering the digital feed for the channel–which is telecast 24 hours a day–7 days a week.
The schedule and line-up of programs on "The Armenian Channel" are expected to develop rapidly in the coming months. In its ultimate form the channel will feature a full spectrum of Armenian entertainment–including movies–sports–news–talk shows–magazine format shows–exercise programs–educational shows–and more.
"We feel that adding ‘The Armenian Channel’ is a natural extension of Marcus Cable’s efforts to better serve the community," said John Monsen. "Our research indicates that as much as 30 percent of our service area is Armenian–so we hope that adding ‘The Armenian Channel’ will encourage more people to get cable and to keep it."
"The Armenian Channel" is available on Marcus Cable’s Showcase service–which feature 44 other channels such as "The Disney Channel,"ESPN,"CNN,"Lifetime," and "Turner Classic Movies."
