Armenian Revolutionary Federation Bureau Representative Hrant Markarian–who was invited as keynote speaker of the 110th anniversary of the ARF celebration in Pasadena this past Sunday–visited the Armenian Genocide monument in Montebello on Saturday December
Markarian paid his condolences on behalf of the ARF to the one and a half million martyrs of the genocide. He was accompanied by ARF Western Region Central Committee Representative Viken Yacoubian and other Central Committee members. Upon arrival at 1:00 P.M.–Markarian was greeted by members of the Montebello "Dro" Chapter of the ARF–Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Holy Cross Church–principal of the Mesrobian school–and various representatives of the Armenian community. Markarian–along with scouts of the Montebello Homenetmen Chapter–laid a wreath in front of the monument.
Marakarian’s next stop in the area was the Montebello Armenian Center where he got acquainted with the inner workings of the establishment. While visiting the Center–Markarian met with students and the founder of the Armenian Black Belt Academy during a class session being held there. Local AYF members joined Markarian at the Center–where they held a meeting with the Bureau Representative who praised the support provided to Armenia by the Western Region of the US.
The following morning–Sunday–December 3–Markarian accompanied by the executive body of the Central Committee visited the Homenetmen Ararat chapter in Glendale and met with its members. On the same morning Markarian visited St. Mary’s Church where he participated in the memorial service in memory of those who have been martyred for the Armenian Cause.
On Monday–December 4–Markarian visited Ferrahian High School in Encino–where he met with Mesrobian–Alex Pilibos–Chamlian–and Ferrahian students. The ARF Bureau Representative will continue to visit other organizations in the community on his stay in Los Angeles.
