YEREVAN—Upon the invitation of President Serzh Sarkisian, on August 19 the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev accompanied by his wife, Svetlana Medvedeva, will arrive in Yerevan on a state visit.
Medvedev is scheduled to visit Dzidzernagabert and lay a wreath at the memorial to the victims of the Armenian Genocide. Afterward, a state dinner in honor of Russian president will take place at the Presidential Palace.
On August 20, the presidents of Armenia and Russia will hold a private meeting, which will be followed by talks with the participation of respective delegations. The two sides are scheduled to sign a number of treaties and agreements aimed at the enhancement and strengthening of the countries’ strategic partnership. After the signing ceremony, Sarkisian and Medvedev will hold a joint press conference at the Presidential Palace.
Sarkisian and Medvedev will also visit Gyumri, where they will participate in the inauguration ceremony of the Hill of Honor memorial.
After the official visit, Medvedev will stay on in Armenia to take party in the unofficial summit of Collective Security Treaty Organization leaders, which will begin Friday and conclude Sunday.
