YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–According to a reply letter of the Human Rights Commission–which was read at the June 6 sitting of the commission–Russian Plenipotentiary for Human Rights Oleg Mironov sent an inquiry to the chief department of the Krasnodar Territory in connection with anti-Armenian operations in the Krasnodar territory. He asked to report about measures undertaken in the direction of attracting guilty persons to responsibility and protecting law and order. The Human Rights Commission in its letter worried about the events that happened in the Krasnodar territory.
Mironov reported that he learned about the facts of the defilement of Armenian graves at the city cemetery of Krasnodar with a sense of deep indignation. According to him–these operations are not only the hooliganism of youth or ordinary offenses–but operations directed at the violation of the atmosphere of ethnic and religious tolerance and confidence formed in the conscience of people living side-by-side for a hundred years and at the destabilization of the hard situation in south Russia.
Oleg Mironov thinks the adoption of the "Formation of the Main Provisions of the Consciousness of Tolerance in Russian Society and the Prevention of Extremism" federal program will be a certain positive step in the direction of overcoming negative phenomena.
