I respect the collective effort of all the organizations and their decision to commemorate on April 23th.
However, I would also like to see April 24th, although it falls on Easter Sunday, be treated with the same respect and dignity that it deserves. April 24th is Our Day of Remembrance and should not be compromised.
After attending Easter Church services, let us quietly go back to our homes and pay homage and respect, and give thanks to all those who sacrificed so that we can actually enjoy Easter that coincidentally falls on Aprill 24th of this year.
With respect to Nora’s post, I would like to see all Christian Armenians, after church service, go home and remember Jesus Christ who died for our sins on His day.
I am puzzled. Nowhere is there a list of the participating organizations who have come togather to have an event on the site of the Monument in Montebello. Who is in charge? Are the names of the organizations being kept a secret? Has the Armenian Monument Council been included since that organization built the Monument?
Since it costs money to hold such an event, will there be a public fund raising on April 23? If so, will there be an open accounting?

Hi. I don’t understand why The date has been changes top the 23d? It doesn’t look right whoever came up with it. I disagree with it. It is on the 24th everywhere ells, this is like the problem we always had by our enemies”Divide and Conquer!” I’m not saying this is deliberate but it just isn’t right. I’m doing my best to bring other cultures that has gone through this horrific Genocide ordeal with the Occupy LA movement and here I see the date is changed without the consent of the People. If you are going to do it on the 23’d go ahead, but then you should do it on the 24th too. There is a reason we do it that day because the Turkish government gathered our cultural intellectual leaders and hung them which is a symbolic day… Thank you for reading the message.

The story you’ve chosen to comment on is from last year, 2011. The Montebello monument commemoration was held on April 23 in 2011 as Easter was on Sunday, April 24. This year, the commemoration will be held at the Montbello Martyrs Monument on Tuesday, April 24 at 1:30/
