STEPANAKERT—The popular travel website, Tripadvisor.com, has listed the Nagorno Karabakh Republic as a destination, providing information about hotels, tourist attractions, and other accommodations.
Tripadvisor.com provides detailed travel information for thousands of destinations around the world in several languages. Much of the website’s content is user generated.
The head of Azerbaijan’s tourism ministry has expressed anger at Tripadvisor’s decision. Vugar Shikhmammadov told Azeri news agency APA that his ministry will protest the website for its action.
The minister also suggested that hotels in Artsakh must somehow adhere to Azerbaijani laws, saying, “We will ask them to remove hotels currently operating without a license in Nagorno-Karabakh from the website.”
Paradoxically, the Azeri consulate in Los Angeles partook in an LA Times travel show last month in which it advertised Nagorno Karabakh as a destination for tourists.
This crazy Tatar-turk does not know, that Fake Axerbaijan exist without a license, never mind Artsakhi hotels!!
People need to post how bad and slobbish the Azeri pigs are in the govt there and how they occupy our land and homes and rape women and children and kill- the nazi’s of years past-they stink like the pig that sat in his squat
The stupid part is Azerbaijan advertising as a tourist destination a place they do not even control! It’s not as if you can take a trip to Azerbaijan and head over to good-ol’ Artsakh so easily. How would tourism to Artsakh help the Azeri state. Morons.
Azerbaijan should understand that Nagorno Karabakh has always been Armenian land and it will stay that way. They can’t expect to steal the land of the others and get away with that, one day the OIL money will end, and without Oil money they are nothing.
Not so fast, Contributor!
I just checked http://www.tripadvisor.ca and searched for “Stepanakert hotels”. The site pointed to “Stepanakert/Azerbaijan/Asia” and listed hotels such as “Hotel Armenia”. The accompanying map showed Xankandi in the location of Stepanakert. When I searched for ‘flights’, I was shown that Stepanakert is served by the Heydar Aliyev Airport in Baku. Go figure!
may be they hope untill spring they will liberate gharabagh so they are joining the campaigne hopefully we will liberate new territories up to kantsak
