GLENDALE–City Council Member Ara Najarian Tuesday night was unanimously appointed the City’s Mayor. Najarian takes over the ceremonial position from outgoing Mayor Frank Quintero. This is Najarian’s second time serving in the position of Mayor. The position of Glendale Mayor is rotated on an annual basis.
Najarian was first elected to the Glendale City Council in April 2005 and was re-elected in 2009. During the past year he was Chair of the Glendale Housing Authority. He has also previously served as Chair of the Glendale Redevelopment Agency.
In addition to serving on the City Council, Najarian is currently the Chair of the Metropolitan Transit Authority Board of Directors and a member of the Southern California Regional Rail Authority Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Glendale Bar Association and the Board of Regents of Holy Family High School. Najarian previously served as a member of the Glendale Community College Board of Trustees from 2003-2005.
He is an attorney and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Occidental College and J.D. from the University of Southern California. He is married to wife Darlene and has two children.
