YEREVAN (ArmRadio)–Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian Thursday said that he is ready to meet with his Turkish counterpart if he is willing to take the step.
"If, he expresses the desire to meet, I’m ready to meet my counterpart to discuss all the issues have mutual interest in and concerned with," said Nalbandian, who had conveyed his willingness to meet with Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan in a response letter to Babacan’s congratulatory one.
"We can find solutions," Nalbandian stressed.
"Recently, there have been a number of positive signals regarding the normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey emanating from both countries," Nalbandian said.
He explained that the signs pointing to the possibility of a constructive dialogue between the two neighboring countries are his recent announcemen’s regarding Armenia’s readiness for dialogue, and Babacan’s congratulatory message to Nalbandian on the occasion of his appointment, wherein he expressed Turkey’s readiness to enter constructive dialogue.
Nalbandian expressed hope that it will be possible to move forward from words to deeds in order for the dialogue to produce results.
"We cannot continue doing things the way we used to especially since we did not achieve much success in normalizing relations in the past," the Armenian Foreign Minister noted. "We should have new approaches and move forward."
