AKHALKALAK (Noyan Tapan)-8000 residents of Georgia’s predominantly Armenian populated Samtskhe-Javakheti region will be supplied with natural gas by late 2008, reported A-info news Agency.
Work on installing gas supply networks in the Armenian populated regions of Akhalkalak and Ninotsminda will begin in April. Construction is set to be completed in two years.
The agreement to set up gas supply networks in the region was signed at the Department of Akhalkalak Mayor’s office between Georgian Energy Minister Alexandre Khetaguria and the Director General of Satakha Gas Company Mkrtich Nanayan.
The gas supply networks’ installation in Akhalkalak and Ninotsminda will increase the number of jobs and promote the socioeconomic development of the region, according to Khetaguria.
No tariff for the gas has been established yet.
