GLENDALE–The Western Regional Executive of Homenetmen announced the honorary president of the 27th Navasartian Games Albert Shahinian donated $25,000 to the organization in memory of his wife–veteran Homenetmen activist Astghig Shahinian.
Albert Shahinian was born in Aleppo–Syria and from a young age has enrolled in the ran’s of the athletic and scouting organization as a basketball player.
In 1976 he and his family moved to the US–settling in Salt Lake City–Utah where aside from his professional accomplishmen’s–he became active in community and national affairs. He was one of the founding members of the Salt Lake City Spitak Homenetmen chapter and was the chairman and executive board member of that unit.
Shahinian lost his wife of many years two years ago. She had been an active member of the Homenetmen and a founding member of the Salt Lake City ARS Hamaspiyur chapter.
To honor the memory of his late wife–Shahinian graciously agreed to assume the responsibility of honorary president and made his generous donation on that occasion.
