ASTANA—Kazakhstan’s leader Nursultan Nazarbayev has invited Turkey to consider joining the Eurasian Union, Kazakh agency Tengrinews correspondent reports citing the official website of the president.
Turkey can become an associate member of the Eurasian Economic Union, Nazarbayev said at the briefing of the Fourth Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States. There are no disagreements between these two organizations, besides “the Eurasian Economic Union is open for other countries to join in. For example, Turkey and other countries could become associate members of this union [Eurasian Union],” Nazarbayev said.
Nazarbayev reminded that a number of countries are interested in developing trade relations with the Union and that Armenia and Kyrgyzstan are planning to join the Eurasian Union in the near future.
He also talked about economic and cultural importance of the Council of Turkic Speaking States for its member-states.
The summit was an opportunity for the leaders of Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Turkey to meet and discuss broadening of bilateral cooperation, in particular in tourism.
“Turkey is very advanced in tourism, and we would like to learn from their experience and train the much needed personnel in Turkish universities,” he said.
Nazarbayev also dwelt on the subject of transport and communications. Significance of highways and railroads for development of Kazakhstan, the 9th largest country in the world, should not be underestimated, he said. Speaking about recent developments, he mentioned Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railroad that is going to be completed this year. It will enhance development of logistics in the whole region.
Nazarbayev also elaborated on the plans of the Turkic Council. “I suggested looking into creation of a dedicated satellite channel that will tell the world about the Turkic speaking countries, our culture and history. Furthermore, it can help draw attention to our country and tell the world about the industrial program of Kazakhstan,” he said.
The Turkic Council (short for the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States) is an intergovernmental organization that includes Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkey. Its primary goal is to promote political and economic cooperation among the Turkic-speaking countries that share common historical and cultural ties.
This guy’s mouth just keeps getting bigger and bigger. If he really wants Kazakstan to progress he should consider stepping down and stop acting like a granddaddy to all of Kazakhstan with his “lifetime presidential term” which is more like a dictatorship than anything else.
Even his first name implies a dictator “NurSULTAN” which translates into “New Sultan”. New Sultan? I thought he was supposed to be an elected President rather than a Sultan.
This guy is a senile imbecile on his last ride and he is trying to go out being remembered as a leader that pressed Kasakh interests and helped the country develop, but if he thinks he will do it at the expense of Armenia’s interests he is hallucinating.
He better quit while he is ahead.
Want to learn more about the real “New Sultan” Nazarbayev, read this revealing article from the UK. Though prince Andrew seems to be an oil whore along with other Brit oil whores, there also those in The UK that see through the “New Sultan’s” BS:

If anything like this begins to materialize, their pro-EU demonstrators will “taxim” Turkey up, like what happened in Ukraine. This is my impression.
typical turkic union reaction.russia must choose ally turkic kazakhstan or ancient friend armenia.
Pan Turanism on the rise?? Turkey is playing on two strings as usual and for how long America will continue support Turkey sending millions of tax money to these barbarians?
Turkey can join Eurasian union if it wants, I don’t care. Eurasian union is Turkic Union. Turkey is a Turkic country, it has it’s place with the likes of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Russia(the anti-West). Armenia must not join Turkic Union, because this Union will force Armenia to make even more concessions in order to please the Turkic people.
Armenia must remain independent. We can sign the EU economic deal that was planned, but I say no need to join any union. European Union or Eurasian Union are not what we need.
And this is the perfect excuse for Armenia not to join. What business does Armenia have joining and dealing with a bunch of ignorant nomadic Turkic states? Armenia should only have dealings with Iran, Russia, Mid East, far east and western countries. Forget all these Uzbek, Muzbek, Kyrgyz, Myrgyz, Kazakstan, Mazakstan garbage.
kasaghestan mostly russian and secend the russia has the every right to see whos gone join or not in this case its just a bolly
He is obviously getting old and getting stupid. Armenia will be in and it will keep Turkey out. Not only that, he is going to get an earful from the Chinese Ambassador.
I think it’s an excellent idea, turkey should join this turkic council or whatever it’s called and once and for all keep it’s dirty nose out of the European Union. This may be a first step towards realizing it’s age old dream of creating a pan-turkic estate. We all know too well turkey does not belong in Europe.
Non of the real Turilic nations really care about Turkey and Azerbaijan! Kazakhstan has strong ties with Russian culture Uzbekistan and Tajikistan consider them self Iranian not Turilic . As far as Azerbaijan and Turkey know they are nor Turlic or anything else but a cocktail race with no future in the region !
Shalom!
I think SHLOMO said it best!
