
GRANADA HILLS, Calif.—The ARS Lori Chapter of the Northern San Fernando Valley will open the doors to a new Saturday school on September 14, 2013.
Located at 17422 Chatsworth St., Granada Hills, the school will hold classes from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m, on Saturdays.
“Our school will provide Armenian language and culture instruction for those students who attend public schools,” said Arsho Avakian, Chapter Executive Chairperson. She welcomed parents to visit the school and sign up their children.
The Lori Chapter is the youngest chapter in the ARS of the Western USA. It was established in 2011 and among its 53 members are many members with young children.
ARS Saturday Schools Reopen
ARS Chapters operate one-day schools usually held on Fridays or Saturdays. These schools teach reading, writing and speaking the Armenian language, along with Armenian history and culture. The programs may include music and dance classes, in addition to incorporating art into the curriculum. At most schools, registration continues following the initial registration period.

Most schools will be open by Saturday, September 7, 2013, except for Arax (in Lomita) and Erepouni (Walnut Creek), which will open on Friday, September 13; Karni (Laguna Niguel), Sevan (Santa Ana) and Talin (Montrose), which will open on Saturday, Septermber 14; and Arpi (Diamond Bar), which will open on Saturday, September 28.
