BEIRUT–A new book entitled "Hayootyan yev Lipanani Hamar" was published by "Aztag" Daily of Lebanon. This volume is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Lebanese Civil War and the efforts of the Armenian community in the defense of their neighborhoods.
The book documen’s the most dreadful years endured by the Armenian community of Lebanon–and the self-defense efforts of its members. Along with accounts and biographies of victims–the book also contains a portion that deals with the crimes committed against Armenia’s and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation throughout the war.
The introduction of the book begins with a message from the ARF Bureau–followed by the message of the ARF Central Committee of Lebanon. The book contains 412 pages–edited by Vicken Avakian–and was printed by Hamazkayin’s "Vahe Setian" publications. The publishing costs were underwritten by Sarkis Gerekmezian in memory of his father–Yanko Gerekmezian of Nor Sis–who was the first to be killed in the events of September 1979.
This publication accounts the collective efforts of the Armenian community in its desperate struggle during the Lebanese Civil War and reaffirms the revolutionary character of the Armenian people.
