YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)New daily newspaper "Haykakan Zhamanak" (Armenian Time) is set to begin publication–announced the paper’s editor Ervand Bozoyan. The newspaper–which is being promoted as a uniting force between Armenian authorities and the opposition–is said to be anything but a mouthpiece for any special interests groups.
"The daily will aspire to become a "stimulating and uniting center for all thinking people–who want to come up with new ideas and proposals," explained Bozoyan.
The daily is sponsored by a number of business circles in Armenia–and according to Bozoyan– they are aware of the dangers of super-monopolization in Armenia’s economy. The sponsors of the paper are regarded as being "out of the game" in the Armenian economy–therefore–Bozoyan believes their interests may more closely be linked to those political forces "…which suggest compromise as an option to overcome the current economic crisis."
The founders of the newspaper are also members of its editorial board–and the staff is partly comprised of employees of Aravot daily–which was recently shut down.
