YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–An action group has been formed for the purpose of establishing a new political organization titled the Hanrapetutiun (Republic) Party. An action group member–ex-mayor of Yerevan and Vice-Chairman of the Yerkrapah Union of Volunteers Albert Bazeyan said that the action group includes Aram Sargssian–Smbat Aivazian–Ghukas Alikhanian–Ara Ketikian–Artak Zeinalian–Gegham Harutiunian–Vaharshak Harutiunian–Aramazd Zakarian–and others. Many of them are former or current high-ranking officials and most of them are ex-members of the Republican Party of Armenia.
The action group is elaborating its regulations which will be submitted to the Ministry of Justice. After elaboration of the ideological basis and political program–the action group will present them to the public.
According to Bazeyan–the task is not a confrontation between the Hanrapetutiun party and other political parties. Some members of the Yerkrapah Union of Volunteers may join the party–if they wish–but admission is not open to everyone. "We will display a serious attitude to the admission–considering the candidate’s behavior–previous activities–and adherence to principles," Bazeyan said. According to him–the party must not necessarily have many members–"It is important that the party ran’s include people of principle and one mind."
