YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Representatives of the US Treasury met with Minister of Economy and Finance Edward Sandoyan Wednesday to introduce a newly elected advisor-representative of the US Treasury George Jinanis and discuss prospects for further cooperation.
Among issues discussed were those regarding the development of secondary government bonds market–budget planning–raising the efficiency of the payment system–as well as introducing a new system of monitoring budget spending. The US Treasury representatives voiced confidence that the experience of close cooperation with the government in the past will make cooperation more effective in the future.
Attending the meeting were US Treasury senior advisor for technical assistance in affairs of state securities of East European countries and former Soviet republics–Tomas Bricks; newly elected representative to Armenia and George Jinanis; and US Embassy official Tereza Menlon.
