Noted Los Angeles attorney Howard Gillingham has been appointed Social Studies Department chair at Rose and Alex Pilibos Armenian School in Hollywood.
Gillingham has defended in many complex criminal trials–especially capitol cases with serious Constitutional implications. He has appeared before the California and US Supreme Courts. Gillingham has also been a professor of Law at Loyola Law School–teaching death penalty related courses.
Gillingham has also been influential in the defense of Armenian political activists.
"We are elated to have a man of Howard’s caliber in our faculty," said Viken Yacoubian–Principal of the school.
Gillingham will oversee the social studies program at Pilibos and teach courses in government–world history–and US history.
"Howard will take our social studies department to new heights transcending didactic instruction and incorporating a rich experimental dimension to his courses," added Yacoubian.
In the last few years–Pilibos has already attained various accolades and student achievemen’s–including numerous state awards and a Scripps Howard spelling bee finalist.
