GLENDALE—The Board of Regents of the Prelacy Armenian Schools om Tuesday announced the passing of one of dedicated, prominent and long-time educators, Lillie Merigian, who passed away on Friday, November 11.
Merigian was one of the first teachers at Holy Martyrs Ferrahian Armenian School, serving that institution from 1964 to 1986. She also served as the Principal of Rose and Alex Pilibos Armenian School from 1973-1974, Ari Guiragos Minassian Armenian School from 1986-1992, and Krouzian Zekarian Vasbouragan Armenian School from 1994-1997.
The Board of Regents extended its condolences to Merigian’s family and friends.
The Holy Martyrs Ferrahian school, in announcing that in lieu of flower donations may be made to the school, also remembered Merigian’s vast contributions to the school as one of its very first teachers.
As an educator, Merigian devoted her life serving the Armenian community with passion and touching the lives of several generations.
“She will continue to be loved and remembered by her family, friends and the community,” said an announcement from Ferrahian, whose staff teachers and students extended condolences to Merigian’s family, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be on Friday, November 18 at 1 p.m. at the Hillside Chapel of Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier. A memorial luncheon will take place following the service at the Golden Skewer Restaurant in Montebello.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to to Ferrahian High School (5300 White Oak Ave. Encino, CA 91316) c/o Mrs. Lillie Merigian Scholarship Fund.
