YEREVAN (Armenpress)–A spokeswoman for Armenian Energy Ministry informed that the Armenian nuclear power plant Metsamor will be brought to a halt in late August or early September for regular repair and refueling. Spokeswoman Lusine Harutunian said the refueling and repair work is scheduled to finish in forty days.
Harutunian said the government is now seeking funding sources to secure $8 millions necessary for the purchase of nuclear fuel from Russia. The Armenian nuclear power plant accounts for some 40-45 percent of the overall produced energy.
