YEREVAN (Respublica Armenia/Noyan Tapan)–Development of a project for construction of a depository for nuclear wastes from the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant is finished–said director of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant–Suren Azatian.
He said that if all operations go as scheduled–construction of the depository will be finished by the end of coming year. Construction operations will be implemented by the Armhydroenergostroy company–which won the bid.
Equipment required for the depository will be delivered to Armenia. Canisters for used fuel–transportation conveyors and biological protection suits for the personnel are some of the equipment Azatian said they will receive.
The program is being funded by 15.5 million fran’s in aid and 24.5 million fran’s in loans from the French government.
