YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan–RFE/RL)–Defendant in the October 27th case former deputy director of Armenian National Television Harutiun Harutiunian has filed a law suit against the military prosecutor Boris Nazarian–alleging mistreatment in the investigation into the parliament shootings.
According to court documen’s–Harutiunian alleged that the military prosecutors were doing things at their own volition–reported the Noyan Tapan news agency.
Allegations that military prosecutors in charge of the politically sensitive probe into the 27 October parliament shooting are mistreating key suspects were given fresh currency on Wednesday–when Ruben Rshtuni–the lawyer of Harutiun Harutiunian–the arrested deputy director of Armenian National Television–alleged that his client was again mistreated by investigators two days earlier.
Speaking at an improvised news conference at RFE/RL’s Yerevan bureau–Rshtuni said Harutiunian was treated to a cup of coffee by interrogators and became dizzy shortly afterwards. "As far as Harutiun could remember–he didn’t sign anything," Rshtuni said. He said he was not present at that interrogation.
Last week–Rshtuni and the defense counsel of presidential adviser Aleksan Harutiunian–who is also charged with complicity in the parliament killings accused military prosecutors of manipulating the case. Their joint news conference angered Unity and the chief military prosecutor–Gagik Jahangirian. They condemned the allegations as pressure on law-enforcement authorities. Jahangirian is due to meet with reporters on Friday.
