SHUSHI, Artsakh—On Sunday, on the eve of Artsakh’s Independence Day, an open air performance of Avet Terteryan’s opera “Ring of Fire” was staged at the Shushi Fortress, near Artsakh’s capital Stepanakert.
President of Artsakh Bako Sahakian noted that the staging of operas in Shushi is becoming a tradition, which has a positive impact on the development of culture not only in the town but also in all of Artsakh.
Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian, Primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Pargev Martirosian, Artsakh National Assembly Chairman Ashot Ghоulyan, Prime Minister Ara Haroutyunyan, and other high ranking officials from Artsakh and Armenia and representatives from the diaspora and foreign guests were present at the event
The Presidents of Armenia and Artsakh also partook in the opening ceremony of the G. Gabrieliants Geological State Museum in Shushi.
President Sahakian expressed his gratitude to academician Grigory Gabrieliants for the realization of the project and highlighted the importance of such a museum in the life of the town and the Republic, underlining that it should become a significant scientific-educational and tourism center.
