YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–By a request from the Information & Analytical Center of Economic Reforms–the Media Research company conducted a survey of the population’s attitude to public–political–information and analytical TV programs and talk shows broadcast on Armenian TV channels. The results of the survey were presented at a news conference on February 1.
Among the 1,550 respondents interviewed in Yerevan and the Lori region were males and females of six age groups from 18 to 65. The survey embraced the information programs broadcast by the National Armenian Television–"Ar"–"A1+"–"Armenia TV"–and "Premetheus" TV channels.
The results of the survey show that Yerevan TV viewers consider impartial and quick-responding the TV programs broadcast by the "A1+" and "Prometheus" TV channels.
The "Or" and "Zham" programs of the "Armenia TV" company–"Haylur"–"Orakarg" and "Parliamentary Hour" programs of the Armenian National Television received such appraisals as "biased,"pro-governmental" and "dull."
The "Kiraki" program of the "A1+" company and "Hayatsk" program of the "Armenia TV" channel received the highest appraisals from the viewpoint of professionalism. The programs of the "Ar" channel were described as attractive and interesting.
Director of the "Media Research" company Christine Stepanian said that similar monitoring conducted on a regular basis will allow the rating of TV channels and their information programs to be determined–which will allow these companies to adjust their activities so as to live up to the viewers’ expectations.
