GLENDALE—Brand Library & Art Center will present “Opulent Mobility,” an exhibition curated by A. Laura Brody and Anthony Tusler in collaboration with students from Glendale Unified School District.
This groundbreaking showcase features Southern California-based artists working in various media, including sculpture, painting, video, audio, and fiber, uplifting and celebrating disabled artists while challenging perspectives on disability. Opulent Mobility counters the dangerous and all-too-common perspective that dismisses the value of disabled lives.
By showcasing innovative and thought-provoking artwork, the exhibition redefines mobility and access, fostering a more inclusive and creative future.
A highlight of the exhibition is “In My Father’s Footstep,” an homage to artist Anahid Boghosian’s father, who lost his leg at the age of nine. This powerful installation reflects the journey of adaptation, endurance, and the unseen footprints we follow.

Through a trail of shoes the work speaks to the quiet battles and the weight of doubt that accompany such a transformation. The artist acknowledges that while she cannot fully understand what it means to walk in her father’s shoes, she has walked in the light of his perseverance. His strength, unwavering spirit, and the life he built taught her that even what is broken carries beauty—because every break reshapes the world around it.
An opening reception will be held on Saturday, April 26, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Brand Library & Art Center, where artists, curators, and community members will come together to celebrate art, resilience, and the power of storytelling.
