SANTA ANA–Calif.– Sunday–June 11 will be a happy day for the Armenian Community in Orange County. It is the date set to have an official ceremony marking the opening of the center. The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m.
Since the center is located next to the Forty Martyrs Apostolic Church and the adjoining school–the parking lot has already started to be put to use and prior to the official ceremony several meetings will have taken place at the center.
Similarly–last May 7–under the shadows of the newly planted trees–a picnic fund-raiser took place. As the music played–the kids ran around–the adults were busily exchanging the latest news and the all the participants lunched on pilaf and shish kebab.
The new community center was on everyone’s mind. Ara Papazian said that he is impatiently waiting for the center opening and is glad for the support of the community. Vache Madenlian said–"finally after 25 years our dream is becoming a reality." Yeghig Konyalian hoped that since this isn’t the first center he has seen being built–it wouldn’t be his last. Vartan Dishoian said that he couldn’t wait until he has a meeting at the center. Taline Gurdikian–the mother of four–said. "The center will be a place where our kids come together and spend time with each other." Garo Agopian stated that once the carpet and restroom fixture installations–and the parking lot strip painting are completed–the construction would be over.
Hence just about a year and a half since the groundbreaking ceremonies took place on November 29–1998–the construction of the Orange County Armenian Center will have completed. Community members have already made donations to cover a part of the building expenses–and are urged to continue to show their support.
Donations can be mailed to the attention of the Finance and Building Committees at the following address:

The OC Armenian Center "dream" has become reality and it’s time that it is enlivened by both young and old members of the community. June 11th awaits.
