YEREVAN (Yerkir)–Ahead of the upcoming May 25 parliamentary election–Ambassador John Ordway met with ARF representatives on April 4 to discuss the conducting of free and fair elections. The meeting between Ambassador Ordway and Chairman of the ARF Supreme Body (SB) representative Armen Rustamian–ARF SB member G. Manoukian–and ARF Bureau Political and Hai Tahd Office Director Giro Manoyan took place at the ARF Simon Vratsian center
Discussions centered around the present pre-election environment of the country–and ways to put an end to the irregularities that occurred during the presidential elections.
The ambassador presented detailed reports and suggestions of international observers and organizations who served as monitors during the presidential elections in Armenia.
On the request of Ambassador Ordway–Rustamian offered details of both Administrative and PR efforts the ARF is undertaking for the upcoming elections–along with an assessment of the current pre-election environment.
The ARF expressed concern over the stability of the region–specifically tied to the situation in Iraq and the stepped-up military action; the Ambassador responded with explanations.
Also present at the meeting initiated by Ambassador Ordway–were embassy political and economic department head Paul Wickberg and embassy political analyst Alla Bakountz.
