YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The following is the text–in its entirety–released by Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday–February 6: Following the recent developmen’s in Armenia–certain statemen’s are being made alleging that there is a threat of resumption of military operations in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia flatly rejects such unsubstantiated and exploitative statemen’s and expresses serious concern in their regard.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers such statemen’s and commen’s to be deceptive interpretations of recent events which fundamentally obstruct the logical development of the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reasserts its commitment to adhere to the May 12–1994 cease-fire and is firm in its determination to utilize all means to transform the cease-fire into stable and durable peace.
Once again–we state our unwavering position that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must be resolved within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group negotiations process.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is convinced that negotiations and dialogue pave the only path toward the establishment of stable peace and mutual trust in the region–and toward the resolution of regional problems.
