YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian visited Latvia on March 15. In Latvia Oskanian held meetings with President Vayra Vika-Freiberg–Vice-Speaker of the Seim Richards Piks and his counterpart–Indulis Berzins.
The two foreign ministers signed a Convention on avoiding double taxation of incomes and property–and a Protocol on cooperation between the two foreign ministries.
The sides discussed ways for the two countries to cooperate within international organizations and European structures. They paid special attention to the issue of developing economic relations considering the great potential.
The sides also addressed problems of regional concern pertaining to the South Caucasus and the Baltic states. Oskanian informed Latvian government officials of Armenia’s diplomatic initiative to establish a stability and security system. He also outlined the current situation of the Karabakh peace process.
Later in the evening Oskanian held a meeting with representatives of the local Armenian community.
