YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenia’s foreign minister Vartan Oskanian met on June 13 in Brussels with NATO general secretary George Robertson–Armenian Foreign Ministry told Armenpress.
Armenian Foreign Minister briefed Richardson on the current stage of peaceful regulation of the Karabakh conflict. Oskanian drew Richardson’s attention to the fact that the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan had reconfirmed their commitmen’s to reach a compromised settlement.
Minister Oskanian also said that Armenia’strove to have an active participation in the Partnership For Peace Program. In response–NATO general secretary encouraged Armenia’s moves in this direction because "they would promote establishment of peace and stability in the region."
The meeting between Oskanian and Richardson concluded with detailed consideration of NATO general secretary’s visit to Armenia’scheduled for September 28.
Minister Oskanian met the same day with Philip Mahou who leads the Armenian-Belgian friendship group at Belgian’s Senate. The two men noted that there are no political problems between the two countries and emphasized the necessity of taking concrete steps in fostering bilateral economic cooperation.
Presenting the latest developmen’s in Armenia–minister Oskanian put special importance on Belgian’s and–in general–the European Union’s support to Armenia in economy development and integration into the European structures.
