YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian held a confidential meeting with United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan in New York.
The two discussed the situation in the region–issues of a peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict and international cooperation development.
On Tuesday–Oskanian met with the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairman from the US Lynn Pasco. The two discussed the Karabakh conflict resolution process–particularly the possibility of resuming negotiations.
That same day–Oskanian also met with his Iranian counterpart Kamal Kharrazi as well as with the UN Undersecretary Benon Sevan–the Armenian Foreign Ministry’s public relations department reported.
During the meeting with Kharrazi–the two foreign ministers discussed issues of bilateral relations–the agreement on tripartite cooperation with Greece–as well as issues of regional cooperation. Kharrazi invited Oskanian for an official visit to Iran.
Oskanian is leading the Armenian delegation at the 20th special meeting of the UN General Assembly being held at the UN Headquarters in New York and dedicated to the struggle against drug trafficking. The session is being attended by 22 presidents.
