YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenia’s Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian participated in the 109th session of Council of Europe Ministers committee in Strasbourg on Thursday. As it was reported from the Foreign Ministry’s press office that in his speech–Oskanian stressed that Armenia’supports the fight against international terrorism.
He stated the role of the Council of Europe and the importance of the values presented by this organization in this fight against international terrorism. Oskanian–referring to the regional issues–said that new possibilities are available at the present moment for regional cooperation. "The stability of the South Caucasus will greatly depend on the position and political will of the members-countries of the European Council," he said.
While talking about the democratic processes taking place in Armenia–Oskanian presented the Council with the developmen’s in the implementations of the obligations undertaken by Armenia after becoming a member of Council of Europe.
Oskanian met with the chairman of European Council’s Parliamentary Congress’ commission on political issues Thiery Davis on Thursday as well. During the meeting issues on the conflicts’ settlement within the framework of European Council’s Parliamentary Congress were discussed.
Oskanian also met with the chairman of European Council’s Parliamentary Congress Lord Russel Johnston and signed six conventions and other officials documen’s concerning the fight against terrorism.
