This year–from August 28 until September 5–the first Pan-Armenian Games will be held in Armenia with the participation of Armenian athletes from all corners of the globe.
The Games will include soccer–basketball–volleyball–tennis–table-tennis and chess.
A governmental committee has been formed headed by Armenian prime minister Armen Darbinian to oversee the preparations for this historical event. The organizing committee includes representatives from numerous Armenian athletic organizations.
The California Armenian community will also be involved in organizing this singular event. The Consulate General in Los Angeles has already sponsored the formation of an organizing committee–which includes the following representatives: from Homenetmen–Manuel Marselian–Raffi Ispenjian–Koko Kelejian–Sam Azizian and Vasken Kalajian; from AGBU–Alber Boyajian–Hagop Sepejian–Stepan Partamian and Hagop Jazmadarian; as well as representatives from Armenian Athletic Union.
The Consulate General calls for all Armenian athletes in California to participate and become active in this special event aimed at strengthening Armenia-Diaspora ties.
