PARIS (Noyan Tapan)–Mayor of Yerevan Souren Abrahamian and his Parisian counterpart Jean Tiberie signed an agreement on friendship on November 10 in Paris. Caucasus-press news agency reports that the ceremony took place at one of the most beautiful Parisian palaces called Hotel de Ville.
The document should give an official nature to our cultural and technical cooperation–Tiberie said–assuring his Armenian counterpart of "full support" from Paris in any new endeavors or arrangemen’s which will be held in Yerevan.
"France is proud of the fact that Western Europe’s biggest Armenian Diaspora is in France," Mayor of Paris noted. He named such outstanding Armenia’s as composer Michel Legran–writer Henry Troyat–painter Garzou–and couturier Alain Manoukian.
"You have brought both talent and exclusive creativity into the French culture," Jean Tiberie said. He also assured that the French have a feeling of brotherhood toward the Armenian people.
By signing the agreement Armenia became a member of the International Association of Mayors of French-Speaking Countries which is chaired by Mayor of Paris.
