YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–At its October 24 meeting–the Parliamentary Standing Committee for State and Legal Affairs by an absolute majority of votes decided to consider unexcused Parliament member–ANM Board Chairman Vano Siradeghian’s absence from most of the parliamentary meetings. Committee member Arshak Sadoyan restrained from voting on the issue; Aghvan Vardanian of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation voted against the decision.
Committee Chairman Victor Dallakian said that the issue will be brought up for discussion of the Parliament at its next three-day session. The Committee will also send an official notification to Siradeghian’s wife and the ANM Board. According to the Regulations of the National Assembly–the issue of a Parliament member may be discussed in the Parliament member’s absence if he/she is absent from two three-day sessions after being notified. If–by a secret ballot–the National Assembly decides that the Parliament member’s absence is unexcused–he will be deprived of his deputy mandate.
