YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The 75th birthday anniversary of Paruyr Sevak–the distinguished Armenian poet–was celebrated Tuesday at the Gevorgian Theological Seminary under the chairmanship of Archbishop Nerses Pozapalian.
The opening speech given by Souren Danielian–a lecturer at the Seminary was followed by over an hour of recitals of Sevak’s verses. The literary composition presented to the fourth-year students included the patriotic and love lyrics of the poet.
Archbishop Nerses Pozapalian made a closing speech.
The soiree was capped by the awarding of prizes to the ten best students of the Seminary during the 1997-98 academic year. Two more prizes were awarded for the best compositions. The prizes were instituted by the "Kaitsakian" fund which has consistently assisted the Seminary.
